After a brainstorming about games, first pupils are divided into groups and they choose a game to create.
Next, they begin to create the game with this question : ‘’ how to learn about the city and the highschoolin a fun and playful ? ’’
Pupils can play inside with board games and outside with a treasure hunt for example. So, when French students and their partners play, they discover each other with games.
To finish, this activity shows that we can take great pleasure to learn things when we play with people we appreciate !
During six months we created board games about Dunkirk. Every two weeks, during 1 hour we worked on these. We created a Monopoly, a Cluedo, a Double, a Memory, an Escape Game and lots of other games. We created the games in groups of 4 or 5.
We played the games all the morning with our group and the penpals. We could play three games.
It was great to start the week with this activity because we could get to know the penpals. It was funny.

Before we started the games, we thought it would be a little boring and not very funny.
But we were very impressed because we could do different games and learn more about the city and the story of Dunkirk.
For the first day, it was a good idea because it made us know each other.
We enjoyed creating the games with our own rules.

Before the activity started we were thinking that the penpals would not play or like the games we had done and they would maybe be bored by them.
During this activity, we discovered that people from every countries could work with each other and play together.
It was very interesting to see that all the penpals could communicate even if they did not know each other and even if they don’t speak the same language. We were happy to see that all the penpals could be together.
Now, we know that people can be very open-minded and that we have to be like them when we will be in our next exchange.
It was very interesting and rewarding for us.

The creation of our games took many weeks. Each group had chosen a game. For example an Escape game, a Monopoly or a Treasure Hunt.
At first, we thought it would be easy to manage everything. But it was more difficult than expected. Some people didn’t want to participate but gladly others were very happy to take part in our games.
This activity was very rewarding. We learned a lot about how to manage a group because it was games for the players but for most of us it was a lot of organization.
Since we were the ones to make the games, I first thought it’d be easy to handle each and every group regardless of the game. Then, during the gaming hour, everything played out smoothly, though we did have a few issues, we still had plenty of fun with our own penpals.
This activity helped me a lot with learning how to handle a group and also taught me quite a few things on how to make my mind quickly.
