Behind this food sweet packet there is a set of macronutrient numbers, defining the amount of protein, fats and carbohydrates in each of the foods, which then provide a total for the entire composition. Each food contains a certain amount of each macronutrient, and these are measured in grams. This is the information as shown on the back of the packets and which students had to analyse the percentage of sweets, the grams of carbohydrates, to find the energy value, to know what kind of emulsifiers and additives are good and bad (E500, E504….). Pupils then knew exactly the name of biscuits, the weight, the durability, how much protein, fat and carbs there are in. To conclude they had to stick the information they have collected and they debated around this.
After creation of the table on black board and the posters with each kind of biscuits, students have seen really the difference. Some of them discovered for the first time thtexists some many informationson a food packaging.
