SMSP19 Creation soap
The students were placed into groups of about 6 and followed the instructions on how to make the soap. The main idea was to make the soap out of recycled oil from the kitchens but after a practice run it was decided that it would take too long to set. First the students had to cut the glycerin into snall pieces and then melt it. They then had to mix the alcohol and dye into a small cup. Then the students pored the dye mixture and scent into the glycerin. Lastly we pored the mixture into the moulds. Students left these to set and picked them up at the end of the session.
The children really enjoyed this activity and were successful in making some really good soaps. They took them away with them at the end as presents for their parents.
